Maine Sea Greens Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

- 1 cup whole milk (or oat/almond milk)

- 1½ tbsp unsweetened cacao powder

- 1 tbsp honey

- ¼ tsp vanilla extract

- ⅛–¼ tsp Maine Sea Greens seaweed seasoning (start light, adjust to taste)

- Pinch of sea salt (optional, MSG already brings some salinity)

Method

1. Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until steaming, not boiling.

2. Whisk in the cacao powder until fully dissolved, no lumps.

3. Remove from heat and stir in the honey and vanilla extract.

4. Whisk in the Maine Sea Greens seasoning last, starting with the smaller amount. It adds a subtle savory-mineral depth that rounds out the sweetness rather than tasting "seaweedy."

5. Pour into a mug and serve warm.

Why it works: cacao's natural bitterness already carries a slight umami note, so a small amount of seaweed seasoning enhances that instead of fighting it, while adding trace minerals (iodine, potassium) you'd get from the sea. Honey and vanilla keep it comforting and familiar
